Statement of Faith

Love INC of Yellowstone County’s Statement of Faith

We believe in one triune God who expresses Himself in three persons: God the Father; Jesus Christ His one and only Son; and the Holy Spirit. We believe the Holy Bible to be the unique, inspired word of God. We believe that salvation and eternal life are a gift of God, received by accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior for the forgiveness of sins.

Love INC Movement’s Statement of Faith

Since the beginning of the Love In the Name of Christ movement in 1977, Christ has been central to bringing together a broad base of Christian churches in a community to minister to the needs of that community.  Many denominations are represented in the Love In the Name of Christ network of churches.  Together we focus not on theological or doctrinal differences, denominational practices, political or social agendas, but on our belief in the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and outreach to people in need In the Name of Christ.  The shared vision of Love In the Name of Christ brings together mainline Protestant, evangelical Protestant, Roman Catholic, and Orthodox churches to minister as the full Body of Christ to people in need.

All Love In the Name of Christ affiliates affirm the incarnate deity of Jesus Christ, the need to live in accordance with His will for their lives, and that the Bible is the written Word of God.  Love INC is a ministry of Christian churches and uses the Apostles’ Creed as a statement of faith to identify unity in Christ.

A creed is simply a statement of faith. When asked by Jesus Christ, “Who do you say that I am?” Peter’s response was his creed, “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the Living God.”  The English word creed comes from the Latin word credo, meaning, “I believe.” It was called “Apostles” not because the apostles themselves wrote it (although some people may have thought this), but because the Creed was believed to be an accurate summary of what the apostles taught.  The earliest trace of the Apostles’ Creed goes back to the late 1st and early 2nd century A.D.  For this reason, and to identify unity in Christ, the Love INC movement uses the Apostles’ Creed for different churches to accept one another and to invite churches to partner in ministry In the Name of Christ.

The Apostles’ Creed: A Modern Translation

  • I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth.
  • I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
  • He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.
  • He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
  • He descended to the dead.
  • On the third day He rose again.
  • He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
  • He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
  • I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgivenessof sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.

Love In the Name of Christ has adopted this “Position Paper on the Apostles’ Creed” to help people better understand how this early statement of belief by the Church helps us define what we mean when we say we are Christian.

In addition, Love In the Name of Christ has adopted the following Statement on Scripture:

We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
